Merrimack County Nursing Home is accepting applications for a full time Administrator of Assisted Living to supervise the operation of Gerrish Manor, the Assisted Living Facility in accordance with established County, Nursing Home, and Gerrish Manor policies and current Federal, State and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Functions as the Licensed Administrator of the Assisted Living Unit under the State Rules and Regulations for Supported Residential Care Facilities.

Essential Job Functions to include:

  • Supervises the daily operation of Gerrish Manor, the Merrimack County Assisted Living Facility.
  • Insures the provision of all services as mandated by County and Gerrish Manor policy and applicable Federal and State rules and regulations.
  • Develops and submits to the Nursing Home Administrator, or designee, for approval recommended policies and procedures and changes to the policies and procedures for the Assisted Living Unit.
  • Interprets policy, procedures, and regulations to the Assisted Living Unit staff, residents, family, and visitors.
  • Provides a safe, sanitary, well-maintained environment for residents, staff and visitors. Initiates appropriate action to prevent safety hazards, accidents and injuries.
  • Keeps the Nursing Home Administrator, or designee, informed as appropriate. Maintains an effective system of communication through records and reports.
  • Advises and makes recommendations to the Nursing Home Administrator, or designee, with respect to the operation and/or changes to the Assisted Living Unit.
  • Prepares recommendations and justifications for the annual budget for the Assisted Living Unit and submits to the Nursing Home Administrator or designee.
  • Operates the Assisted Living Unit within the approved budget. Advises the Nursing Home Administrator, or designee, of situations where the actual Assisted Living Unit expenditures or income may differ from the approved budget.
  • Coordinates with other Nursing Home Departments supporting the Assisted Living Unit.
  • Supports maintenance of targeted census levels of the Assisted Living Unit.
  • Promotes community relations with the goal of increasing public knowledge, awareness and respect for the Assisted Living Unit.
  • Participates in management meetings conducted by the Nursing Home. Serves on Nursing Home committees as assigned.
  • Maintains staffing of the Assisted Living Unit within authorized levels.
  • Screens, interviews, and selects Assisted Living Unit staff. Coordinates Human Resources functions with Human Resources staff.
  • Provides licensed nursing services to the residents of the Assisted Living Unit.
  • Insures that pre-admission assessments of prospective residents are performed.
  • Provides for continuous monitoring of resident medical condition performing periodic assessments as appropriate and in accordance with accepted standards of care and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops individualized plans of care as a result of the assessment process, and verifies that resident’s needs are met.
  • Initiates resident and family education in accordance with resident care plan, and documents the results.
  • Maintains complete and accurate resident charts, records, and reports.
  • Administers and monitors medications, treatments, and maintains accurate accounting of narcotics. Monitors nutritional status and therapeutic diets, implementing dietary measures as appropriate.
  • Insures coordination of services with other providers, as appropriate.
  • Insures coordination of resident transportation as appropriate.
  • Initiates and participates in appropriate resident activities.
  • Initiates and documents appropriate discharge planning for residents.
  • Performs other similar or related duties as required or directed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse issued by the NH Board of Nursing. Certification in Gerontology is preferred.
  • Five years of charge nurse or supervisory experience or any combination of education and experience which demonstrate possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Eligible for licensure as an administrator of a Supported Residential Care Facility in accordance with NH State Regulations.
  • Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of nursing policy, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with departments, residents, family members and visitors of the nursing home facility.
  • Ability to retain confidential information pertaining to administrative, personnel and resident’s medical records.
  • Ability to evaluate and manage a wide range of jobs functions including nursing, social services, recreation, housekeeping, and dietary issues.
  • Skill in making management decisions regarding the operation of Assisted Living Unit to insure the quality care of the residents.
  • Ability to exercise judgement in the coordination of diverse job functions relative to Assisted Living Unit.
